Every great journey begins with a single step into the unknown.

A little girl walks through a world that cannot quite decide if it is land or sea, real or imagined. Stone lions guard the shore. A samurai rides a magnificent bird beside her. Flying fish move through cotton-candy clouds. Her dog trots faithfully at her side, unbothered by any of it.

This is the first chapter — the moment the adventure begins, when the ordinary world has fallen away and anything is possible. She is not lost. She is exactly where she is supposed to be.
