The Two Foxes

A mother fox sits still at the centre of it all, watchful and steady. Tucked against her, a small fox looks out at the world with wide, curious eyes — everything is new, everything is interesting, everything is worth investigating.

But the world is full. Snakes coil through the upper branches. Creatures watch from the leaves. The mother sees all of it, even as her cub sees none of the danger — only the wonder.

This is what it is to be loved and protected. To be free to be curious because someone else is paying attention.
